Why Blue Mind Coworking?
On a lovely evening about 7 years ago, Michael and I were enjoying the night air on our patio in Kirkland, Washington with our neighbors when the subject of our mutual love for the water came up in our conversation. We talked about how much we loved to boat (sail and motor) and the calming effect water has on our souls. The conversation then turned to the the book just released by Wallace J. Nichols, “Blue Mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better At What You Do” and it was a must read. I value both their opinions –they are an engineer and a scientist – so I bought the book and read it.
When Michael and I decided to go forward with this crazy idea of a coworking space amidst a pandemic, we knew we had to not only stand out among the competition but we also needed to create a place that best reflects our vision. So, as we wrestled with names and a vision for our space, Nichols’ book came back to me– the essence of his study of the effects of water is exactly what we wanted to bring to our members. In this crazy world, who doesn’t need a place that not only creates a calming atmosphere like the ocean but also improves performance and increases success? That is our mission with Blue Mind Coworking– to inspire you like the water that draws us here- to work, create, and collaborate.
